THE NEW BREED
My father used the word pseudo-intelligent,10 years ago. I never understood its meaning , may be i do now.The internet has given rise to a new breed of people - The Pseudo-intellectual / pseudo-intelligent .The urban dictionary defines them pretty well- google it .
Quoating few definitions:
1. One who attempts to flex intellect that does not exist within his or her own mind.
2. Can probably be found with a thesaurus in hand, while in a chat room, looking up new insults that are synonymous with "stupid" in order to boost his or her own undeserved ego.
4. Pretends he or she has an opinion. A person who uses "big words" to impress people, insists on being politically-correct all the time, constantly bitches about "the system", and thinks they're gods among men because they're atheist.
Well i think everyone takes up the psuedo-intellectual role once in a while (this includes me as well :)Ever looked up wikipedia to find a quick summary on something inroder to impress/overpower/look important/look cool/Blend in ?
Facebook is one such portal that encourages this breed of youngsters. You have these crazy tests which say you have an amazing personality, your are loved by 95% of your acquaintances blah blah blah. I feel you that either take them
a) to convince yourself of lies that dont define your personality or
b) coz you are bored to death (the former group also claim this excuse) or
c) you passionately believe in robotic fortune tellers which work on silly algorithms.
When you chose to be delusional and live in lala land , you actaully plunging your subconcious mind into depression due to the awareness of the fact that you are delusional.I remember few days back one of my statuses on FB was "My life is not dramatic but i tend to make it" ( I am Indian - Dramatism is my birthright), the statement is true for most FB /Twitter/any such social networkign site user. Even though you might be in some forgodsaken land living a boring life, you just want that attention from your "friends" on fb, that you are having a gala time.Why? to look cool or hep or happening ..whatever. I read baout a simillar situation somewhere i dont remember.I realize the importance of referencing.
Ahhhhh Refencing the double edged swrod. while referencing quotes, poetry,thoughts you are being humble stating- I DINT WRITE THIS SOME OTHER BIG SHOT DID and on the other hand you say I AM COOL ENOUGH TO READ STUFF OF THIS BIG SHOT ..I AM LITERATE,I STAND OUT OF THE CROWD.
Attnetion ,attention , attention.. its all about attention.
Now to think about may be in some nasty corner of my mind- i am writing this to stand out of the crowd... am i?
Charishma is a gift.You can either fake confidence or be unaware that you possess it.Its our sensibilty to chose what we become. I chose not to be a pseudo intellect and be truthful about my ignorance and dumbness instead of falsifying :)
